That's why we started Chisel Solar.

We kept seeing the same thing: all that sunshine, and families still overpaying the CEB every month, unsure which tariff tier they're in, what they really pay per unit, or whether the quote in front of them is fair. Going solar had become a leap of faith. We think it should be a simple, confident decision.

So we built what we'd want for our own families: honest numbers first, hardware second. A calculator that shows you what solar would really save you, before anyone sells you anything. Quality kit built to last through salt, sun and cyclones. And honest guidance from people who don't vanish once you've decided.

Shafa Balaram

Shafa is Mauritian, and an AI scientist who develops AI systems for science and healthcare. She brings that scientific rigour to how Chisel Solar turns complex energy data into tools that are genuinely easy to understand, along with the local roots and languages (English, French and Creole) to keep us honest about what Mauritian homes really need. This is tech built by a Mauritian, for the benefit of Mauritians.

Mohammed Rahil S

Rahil is a business strategy professional in the energy segment who has spent his career in the engine room of the industry — strategy, markets, and the detail of how energy is really priced. He brings that expertise to Chisel Solar's savings engine, the reason every number we show you is built on real CEB tariffs rather than guesswork. And he holds the line on honesty: if solar won't genuinely pay back for you, he would rather tell you straight than sell you a system.
